Like most professional racers Brian started riding at a young age. After his big brother Patrick started riding, it wasn’t long before Brian was asking for a turn on his bike. Brian started racing the local District 36 series where he competed on his brother’s hand me down bikes in the C 125 class. After the Garrahan family took a trip to Holland to watch the ISDE, Brian got serious about racing.
In 1994 Brian went to the Hollister Hills National Hare Scramble and signed up as an AA racer. To his surprise he was able to grab the holseshot, but his lead didn’t last long before he crashed. The next two races at Shasta Damn and Loretta Lyn’s GNCC/Hare Scramble, he had a similar experience.
Brian has raced seven ISDE Enduros and six of which were for Team USA, earning three gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Brian has accomplished over 20 National Hare Scramble wins, along with several GNCC, National Enduro, and OMA podiums.
Brian took the overall championship in the AMA/District 36 AA Men’s class in 2010 and is strongly defending his title. In 2008 and 2010 Brian won the AMA Western National Hare Scramble AA Men's championship and is on the road to keep his title.
Brian is thankful to his son, Ian, his Team, and his many sponsors for the support of Garrahan Off-Road Training.
